Every day, we deal with various types of individual human beings. From those who please us, to those who irritate us. Disgust us and the ones who we at times wish, we had not even met!
My daily prayer or do’a is, ‘Ya Allah! Selamatkan kami dari segala gangguan Jin, Syaitan dan Manusia!’ Meaning, ‘O Allah! Save us from the disturbance of the Djinn, Satan and Mankind!’
The Djinn or the Satan do not trouble us that much! But Mankind!!!
There are those from my fellow beings who are so much worse than the ones deemed to be the ‘evil’ spirits. Evil spirits do not pose that much of a heartache to us when compared with the vile ones from amongst the Mankind!
- ‘Evil’ spirits don’t give a rat’s ass whether you are a Malay, Chinese, Indian or what the hell ever.
- ‘Evil’ spirits do not differentiate between the rich or the poor.
- ‘Evil’ spirits don’t care whether you are a graduate from the most prestigious universities or just a Kampong kid!
- ‘Evil’ spirits don’t bother whether you are a King or a Commoner.
- It is the vile ones who declare themselves as Human but in actuality are much more vicious than the Devil!
The Devil or Syaitan doesn’t go around backbiting against each other but we Humans do so, out of our own choice. Yet when caught, who do we blame?
Why, the Devil or Syaitan, of course! The most convenient Scapegoat!
He, who used to be the Chief of the Djinns and the most Pious Creation of Allah Azza Wa Jalla, was up there in the highest Heaven. The Jannatul Firdaus.
Syaitan, whose real name was Azazil, was up there, amongst the Angels, the Malaikats of Allah, glorifying and worshiping Allah in Jannatul Firdaus.
Yet, when Allah decided to create Adam, our Father, all the Malaikats @ Angels, voiced their dissent against it.
It’s recorded in Surah Al Baqarah. Chapter 2, Verse 30 in the Glorious Qur’an:
It doesn’t record Azazil, the Chief of the Djinns, joining the Angels in protesting against Allah’s pronouncement of His Wish to create Adam, and make Adam, a Khalifa. Does it?
Yet, here we are. Every bloody Tom, Dick or Harry; or in the Malaysian context, every Ahmad, Ah Seng or Samy, blaming the Devil, for every bloody sin that, they commit!
Or the Christians nowadays, who so conveniently turned Eesa Alaihis Salam @ Jesus the Son of Maryam into their Scapegoat. He who died for their sins [supposedly].
No one seems to want to be held accountable for his or her own screwups.
The Devil or Syaitan was the Ultimate Scapegoat not by his own choice but because of Allah the Almighty’s Will.
We, believing Mukmins, who are rational and knowledgeable, believe firmly, that not an Atom or molecule moves without the Consent and Will of Allah!
So, when Allah Azza Wa Jalla, after He completed creating Adam, taught him the names of things and gave him certain knowledge, asked the Angels about this and that, to which they replied, that they didn’t know.
How would the Angels know about things that they were not privy to? Adam was taught by Allah, Himself. Adam was favored. The Angels were not.
Adam was given free will. Angels were not. They hear and they obey Allah to a T. No if’s or but’s about anything.
Now, let’s talk about Azazil. He was there amongst the Angels. We can all deduce that to be so because when Allah commanded the Angels to bow to Adam as a mark of respect, Azazil didn’t join the Angels blindly, did he?
No, he did not.
If Azazil was to be tried today, in human courts of justice, a skilful defence attorney, would speak in his defence, the following:
‘Your Honor, my client, [Azazil], even though, was present, up there in the highest heavens, when Almighty Allah, created Adam, he @ Azazil, did not object or voice any displeasure.
He was just being observant. Worshiping Allah. Only Allah.
Yet, when Allah ordered the Angels to prostrate to Adam, a creation of Allah, Azazil didn’t follow suit because he worships ONLY Allah. Nothing else!
Then why is he being expelled from Paradise for refusing to worship or to submit to another of Allah’s creation?
He did no wrong!’
~ That would be the gist of Azazil’s defense!
If the matter goes to the human courts of justice! But as we know, this won’t happen. Just thinking out loud, on my part.
My contention is that, Azazil, was chosen by Allah to be His Scapegoat. The Turning point of Allah’s Master Plan.
If Azazil had prostrated to Adam, together with the Angels, there would be no grounds for Allah to expel him from Jannatul Firdaus, down here to Earth.
Allah had to have a reason. An incrimination. If Azazil had acquiesced, then, Allah would have no reason to expel Azazil from the Jannatul Firdaus together with Adam and Hawwa, down to this Earth.
Let’s examine what Surah Al-Baqarah Chapter 2 Verses 34-35 have to say about this:
Would Azazil have refused if it was not Allah Who Decided that it should be so? Based upon my belief that not an atom or molecule would move without the Consent or Will of Allah!
Also, the matter of Siti Hawwa and Adam Alaihis Salam to eat the forbidden fruit in Paradise! If they had not eaten the Forbidden fruit, there would be no reason for Allah to expel them from His Paradise.
Sayyidina Adam Alahis Salam, Sayyidatina Hawwa Radhiallahu Anha and Azazil [Syaitan] need to be down here on Earth to fulfill Allah’s Master Plan for us all.
If not, you and I, plus all the trillions of people before us and all other of Allah’s creations would not have come to exist! Zilch!
Now, back to the topic.
Whether we like it or not, we are stuck with having to deal with all kinds of people in our daily lives. They could be members of our own family, neighbors, relatives, friends, total strangers. As you very well know, even our blood relatives can be so different in their characteristics and mannerisms from us.
We need to exercise self-restraint and be very patient in dealing with them for we can’t afford to have strained relations with those whom we can’t break off ties with. We might have our differences and can’t agree with them on certain matters but we can’t sever our blood ties with them. Period. Estranged, maybe but to cut off, totally, impossible.
So, how do we go about dealing with those with whom, we can’t see eye to eye?
There are many guidance’s out there, which one might find useful.
As Muslims, our best guide in life is none other but Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam.
It’s one thing to be sharing information such as this but in one’s real life, implementing the above, tests one’s own mettle and true integrity. Insya Allah, we shall prevail.
It’s not easy to be able to get along with everyone but from my own life experiences, I find that staying away from engaging with the undesirables, whether in real life or on social media, helps.
There is a famous saying that advises us not to wrestle with the swine. Meaning, it’s not worth our time and effort in engaging with those whom we know are obstinate and faultfinding weirdos. Even the Blessed Prophet, Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam advised us:
The example given by the Prophet is that if we are to keep company with let’s say, the perfume seller. We would get to enjoy the sweet fragrance of the perfumes, whereas if we were to be in the company of the blacksmith, chances are that we would risk getting polluted by his bellows smoke or heat.
This is an excellent advice. Relatable to making friends with good, knowledgeable, pleasant individuals. Staying away from engaging with caustic personalities either in real day to day life or on social media. Save ourselves the angst and heartaches in having useless debates or quarrels online with those who won’t benefit us in any manner.
Tiptoeing through human hearts signifies choosing amicably with whom we need to be friends with and learning to not be a pain in the ass, ourselves. If we have nothing good to say or share, it would be best to remain silent in order not to hurt others with our remarks. At times, we would be forced to tell it as it is but my advice would be to do so in a manner that doesn’t offend or cause grievous mental harm.
Like plunging a spear straight through the heart but when we withdraw it, not a drop of blood is shed! Fuyoo! 😀

Awesome thought. Tq, Zainol. Azazil could be good lawyer. His only problem was he perceived himself as better than Adam. Being humble is as important as being pious.
I encounter with various types of people in my life ; both socially & professionally as a Dr.
There are times when some will argue, accusing or condemning our opinion & managements. But to them, I will amicably & graciously reply & walk away.
As the saying goes, “ Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level “ . Imam Syafie said
“I can debate with 10 people who are knowledgeable but I will be defeated by the ignorant, because ignorant people will never understand the basic of knowledge”
I beg to differ. Actually, in my humble opinion, Azazil had no choice in the matter. His refusal to prostrate to Adam could only be because Allah Azza Wa Jalla had already Willed his refusal to be so. Remember, we read that Azazil was said to be very pious in his worship and submission to Allah.
The fact that Azazil was already present up there in Jannatul Firdaus speaks volumes about his merit in being there. We can’t even imagine ourselves being admitted into Paradise except by the Mercy of Allah.
The entire turn of events would not have come to pass if Azazil had also prostrated to Adam together with the Malaikats. There would be no reason for Allah to expel Azazil from Jannatul Firdaus if he had done so.
Same situation with Adam and Hawwa. They were already destined by Allah to succumb to their Nafs and eat the Forbidden fruit. All that is part and parcel of Allah’s Taqdeer and Master Plan for Mankind’s existence and proliferation here on Earth.
Exactly Doc. We learn not to waste our time talking to the deaf, dumb and blind to reason or facts. Thank you for sharing your comment. Looking forward to future engagements between us. Insya Allah.
The internet is filled with stories of strangers who hurt others just because they think they can. Be the Muslim who comes to the aid of a stranger, be the person who speaks up for others, and don’t be the person that everyone tries to stay away from due to the harm that can come to them from us.
Wise thoughts Brother! Many of us do not realize the harm that our tongue could do whether spoken literally, face to face or through our words, typed via our keyboard on social media platforms. To hurt is easy but to apologize takes a very strong character to do so.
We all know that saying sorry AFTER hurting or offending someone is so damn easy but not many are aware of the lasting damage that such irresponsible comments do to the human heart.
People might say that they forgive the offender but they will never, ever forget!
Hence, my article’s headline,’ Tiptoeing through human hearts’. Experience and advancing age makes me wiser today so as not to repeat the mistakes which I did in my past.
I don’t know when my time to leave this life is going to arrive. This is why I need to pass whatever grains of knowledge I have in me to others, so they might learn from my errors.
I am just a speck of dust. Currently alive, by Allah’s Consent.
Be well Brother Sudhirjan. Really appreciate your response. Please keep your comments coming.
