Most of us have and use a smartphone nowadays. In case of any emergency or when we are unfortunately involved in an accident or mishap where we pass out and are unable to call for help, the first responders such as the Fire & Rescue personnel, paramedics or police would search us for our phones. To see who they can contact to inform them of our situation.
My friend, Datuk Haji Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar [photo above] WhatsApped me early this morning and shared with me about this matter. He asked me to share with my contacts in order to alert everyone about the importance of setting up our ICE 1, ICE 2 and ICE 3 should we be unfortunate enough to be caught in such an unforeseen situation.
Now, ICE stands for In Case of Emergency, not for the song ‘Ice, Ice, Baby’ by Vanilla Ice. 😛
So, please update the contact number of your spouse, parents or guardian who is the person to contact in case of any unfortunate emergency or mishap that could happen to us.
Let’s say, you have your darling listed as Sayang, Wife or Hubby, Dad or Mom in your phone contact list. Go to your phone list and click Edit. After you have typed in ‘ICE 1’ after their name, please click ‘Save’.
It should read i.e. ~ Sayang ICE 1, or Wife ICE 1, Hubby ICE 1, Dad ICE 1, Mom ICE 1, etc. Once you have saved their contact number as such, you are done.
Do so for the next person that can be contacted to help you and add ICE 2 after their name and click Save. You can go on and add another reliable person as your ICE 3.
This is important. I strongly suggest that you spread this message with your loved ones and contacts.
All the best.
