Malaysian Socio-Political Bloggers are fast becoming a rare breed. Endangered Species. Soon to be extinct if you get the drift that the Najib Razak Government policymakers and Brasso Brigade wants to impose on us!
In these times where the world’s internet users tend to browse through the online news and views as fast as they are published, there is a need for those who have the luxury of some spare time to read at a slower pace and digest the published words at a much more unhurried manner.
Thus arises the need for the Blogger. The modern day equivalent of a Scribe. One who takes the time and effort to type down what he or she feels is worthy to share with others what they feel strongly about!
Newspaper editors slim and trim whatever is reported to them by their media’s reporters or journalists and only pass for publishing edited and censored news or views that their masters in the governments of the day consent to be passed on to the reading public’s knowledge.
There are still a few Malaysian Bloggers who have not sold their souls for a fistful of ringgits who continue to blog and publish whatever they get their hands upon depending on their sources or what they have personally covered or investigated.
These independent and reliable bloggers are fast becoming a rare species. Mahaguru58 is one. I do not have vested interests in either the current Malaysian Federal Government politics or those of the so called Malaysian Opposition.

Most Malaysian Bloggers nowadays are not known to be conscientious and often plagiarize others frames of thought and tend to steal content of others including photographs and shamelessly pass it off as their own. They crop away any watermarks of the original photographers and republish the cropped pictures with their plagiarized content.
Blogging used to be an alternative source of news and views for those of us who hunger for the whole unbridled truth and those of us who started blogging back in 2004 were quite gung ho about our new-found freedom of expression and were very enthusiastic about it.

Datuk A.Kadir Jasin and myself |
Old school bloggers such as myself, Rocky Bru, Another Brick in the Wall, Just Read, OutSyed the Box, Big Dog, Kadir Jasin, GAP , Helen Ang, Susan Loone and many others listed here and in other Socio-Political Blog Directories tended to do our own blogging based upon our own takes at any issues worth our attention and at times beat the major prime time news media in reporting about it.
RPK organized among the first gathering of dedicated Malaysian Socio-political bloggers at the Century Paradise Club and at the gathering I proposed to Tun Dr.Mahathir that he starts blogging to express his views since PM Dato Seri Abdullah Badawi who took over from him had in a way banned the TV and Radio stations from giving Tun Dr.M airspace to speak out. Thus http://chedet.cc came into being!

We also had the B.U.M 2007 Bloggers Gathering at the Lake View Club, PJ. Read about it here. It was a good gathering where all kinds of active Malaysian Socio-Political bloggers had our pow wow and exchanged contact numbers, posed for photographs, engaged in conversations amongst us. Even amongst online enemies! Hehehehehe…
But lately, I keep reading and hearing all these calls by the nation’s Inspector General of Police, the Home Minister, this and that apple polishing minister and even the Friday Prayers JAKIM prepared text reading Khatibs preach about the evils of the Social Media focusing specifically on Blogs!
I don’t understand why these fellows are running scared of social media? In my opinion, if any of these bloggers misreport or publish erroneous stories about anything, by all means take action against the particular offender.
No reason for you to label everyone else as rumormongers or fake news spreaders! It’s akin to branding each and every politician holding office today as corrupt and a crook just because one or two government officials are guilty as such!
Stupid isn’t it?

Let’s be fair and call a spade just that. Not everyone is squeaky clean in the government and so are the folks here in our Malaysian Blogosphere!
Smart leaders ought to know and realize that we are living in the Age of Science and Technology! We ought to embrace the Cyberspace and Social Media instead of behaving like we are still in the Stone Age and rely on edited news to survive.
First and foremost dear News Stiflers, wake the hell up and realize that each of us are always in the monitoring of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and His Malaikats! 24/7. Around the clock! Nothing escapes Allah!
Or are you not aware of that? Who do you think are those Malaikats?
Why it’s Malaikats Raqib on our right shoulder and Atid on our left!
Just to remind you in case you forgot. So, be smart and sensible. You can do it! Believe me.
