When the Imam cried…..

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

Dear brothers and sisters,

The Chief Imam at Masjid Al Najihin, Bandar Sri Permaisuri broke down in sobs today whilst making the do’a after the Jumaat prayers this afternoon!

To hear this good friend of mine break down and cry between the recitation of the do’a caught many of us unawares and it brought a lump to our throats as we too fought hard to contain ourselves for being so affected to hear our young Imam be so emotional in prayers.

After praying the sunnat prayers, I made my way to his office and after giving him my salam and embracing him in my usual bear hug enquired as to why he got so emotional during the recitation of the do’a?

He replied that he got so because it occurred to him that he might not live to Ramadan and became so sad thinking about it?

I reminded him of the reality that we live between the 5 daily prayers in fact!

Why worry about Ramadan when there’s no guarantee that we might even get to live up to Asar? Who is there to guarantee that we will make it to Maghrib after that and on to `Isya?

Is there anyone out there who can promise us that we will definitely make it to Subuh tomorrow and so on and so forth?

The Imam understood my advice and gave me a big hug in return and smiled.

It feels good to see my friend smile.

It makes my day so worthwhile.
