As we all feared, the Kg Buah Pala Indian village is now being systematically being destroyed by the powers that be.
The descendants of the Brown Estate workers who were given unconditional rights to reside there in that village were betrayed by the previous Penang BN Gerakan State Government who got the ignorant dwellers of the more than 200 year old only remaining Indian village in Penang to sign over their rights to those slick slimy ones in power.
Instead of helping the poor to get to live in peace upon the village land which was granted to their forefathers, both the previous and the present state governments have washed off their hands from the Kg Buah Pala villagers predicaments.
As I type this, the destruction of the villagers homes is taking place and many of the villagers and their supporters are getting arrested and altercations are said to be taking place there between the residents and the law enforcement agencies.
There is a Malay saying ‘Ayam terlepas tangan bau tahi!’
The poor villagers seem to be at the losing end of this battle to save their 200 over years old heritage village.
For detailed reports about what is taking place there at Kg Buah Pala, do visit Arvind Raj’s dedicated site on this unfortunate village ~ Crying Voices!
He’s done a great job of sharing the villagers story.
Whoever victimizes the poor and the ignorants in order to live off their land will surely not come to a good end!
You might think that you can get away even with murder but just wait when your time is up?
Then you will know the difference between heaven and HELL!!!
Damn all those who have turned tyrants at the expense of the poor villagers of Kg Buah Pala.
May Allah give you your dues!!!

Wa'alaikumsalam Brother Jeffery.
I really pity the poor villagers!
Imagine the agony of seeing one's ancestral home and village be destroyed before one's very eyes?
Kasihan kat mereka!
Memang zalim semua yang berkomplot memusnahkan kampong tradisi itu.
Tuan,
Saya turut rasa simpati dgn nasib mereka namun mungkin kita kena renungkan apa punca penyebabnya dan natijah disebalik kejadian ini. WHAT GOES AROUND WILL COMES AROUND.
How about the fact that the villagers kept turning down offer after offer, the last one being a double storey house worth half a million ringgit, plus 8,000 ringgit for moving costs?Seems like more than a fair offer to me?
Assalamualaikum Tuan Noor.
Memang sah kini Akhir Zaman. Pemerintah memang tidak ada hati perut atau belas kasihan lagi terhadap orang susah dan rakyat miskin.
Janji puak puak pemaju dapat buat duit dan kemudian mereka panggu sama rata.
Hang ambik skit, aku ambik skit.
Waris waris tanah tu biaq mampoih!
Janji kita senang.
Gitu lah gamaknya skrip dailog sandiwara semasa ni di sana , no?
Emmanuel,
In the first place, many commenters forget the fact that those villagers were granted permission to reside there as long as they wished as a result of the land being bequeathed to their forefathers who had toiled for the Brown Estate owners.
THe villagers were betrayed by the previous BN Gerakan State Government and now by the Pakatan chaps.
They do not want to move because it is rightfully their land, given to them by the British landlord.
In actuality, Penang Island and Seberang Perai rightfully belongs to the Sultanate of Kedah still.
Only thing is that the Kedah Sultan is not courageous enough to demand what is his from the Federal Government.
That's why we still have all these enduring problems.
No spine to claim what's mine?
What a pity.
The poor Tamils of Malaysia keep getting sold out by just anybody who gets to be in power!
When will they ever get a reprieve?
