Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji`un.
From Allah we came ; to Allah we shall return!
This is the reality of life. That each and every living being will one day end its existence here on Earth by dying.
No matter whether one is a King or a commoner, prince or a pauper, celebrity or your run of the mill ordinary person, each and everyone of us will taste death.
Yasmin Ahmad, the controversial film, drama and ad director passed away last night after being in a coma for a few days.
She tried to break age old taboos by incorporating liberalism in her movies such as Gubra, Sepet, Mukhsin, Mualaf and Talentime.
Sure, she has her legions of fans and admirers who love what she had done for ‘liberating’ the Malaysian movie industry from touching on things which were taboo and bordering on Islamic issues, but I for one don’t give two hoots about such achievements for they invite to the forbidden and blur the clear divide between the al-makruf and the maksiat!
Those who have a fair idea of what I objected about her would know exactly what I meant?
Those who were and are in cahoots with her frame of mind can just wait for their own comeuppance soon.
‘Thou shall reapeth what thou soweth!’ so says the parable of us who will answer for our deeds both here in the Yaum al Duniyya as well as in the Yaum al Akhirat!
Whatever differences I had with her work dies with her. May Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala give her her dues.
Ameen.
