MAHAGURU58

The Truth must be told no matter what so Justice can live!

Malaysia’s Barisan Nasional Government’s Apathy towards our Environment!

Malaysia is unfortunate to be governed by a bunch of neanderthals who simply do not give a damn about the country’s natural resources especially which concerns the ecological balance of our once pristine rainforests and abundant sources of fresh, natural water bubbling up from deep within the tropical forests and hills of this peninsular which drew travellers from all around the world to stop by and get their supply of fresh, potable drinking water from the lush forests and springs of this land.

From the times of Marco Polo to the advent of the British East India Company, sailing ships have always stopped at Penang Island to get their supply of fresh water from the once pristine Penang Hills and the Waterfall.

As the centuries passed and the colonials left, the country came to be governed by the Malays together with their immigrant citizens from India and China.

The Alliance @ Parti Perikatan ruled Malaya since Independence from the British in 1957 and in 1963 came to form Malaysia with Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak.

From a country that was known the world over for our agricultural produce like rubber and palm oil, we were also famous for our tin ore.

Bits by bits of pristine rainforests fell victim to the machinations of those in power and large tracts of tropical jungle were destroyed over the years in the name of development.

Greedy bastards in the government encroached into the tropical forest reserves and just bulldozed their way into the forests and destroyed water tables and riverine sources.

They didn’t give a shit about the lives of the Orang Asli’s, the original inhabitants of this peninsular and simply used force to drive the Orang Asli’s out of their traditional ancestral forests and highlands.

Lumber companies owned by the government linked companies and state development authorities ruthlessly cleared millions of trees and destroyed the flora and fauna as they pleased.

The destruction of the forests and the wanton clearing of the forests caused many precious species of plants and trees to be destroyed forever and the rivers which once flowed with clear pristine drinkable water turned into muddy, dirty open sewers.

Who is to be blamed for all these destruction?

No one else but the Barisan Nasional Government. From the times of the late Tunku Abdul Rahman to the present felon masquerading as the country’s supreme leader, the crimes against Mother Earth and its inhabitants are all piling up non stop against this ruthless, greedy government who do not care about our natural heritage!

All the media propaganda showing ‘Sayangilah Sungai Kita!; Sayangi lah Warisan Kita!’ and all the other bullshit is just that!

The Orang Asli’s have been systematically driven out from their forests and forced to live like squatters at the city fringes all over the peninsular.

The surviving ones are further being threatened with forced evictions like in the Kelau Dam Project which I have highlighted in the article before this.

If not for the presence of the Orang Asli’s, the peninsular’s tropical forest reserves may all have been cleared bit by bit under the name of development by the Barisan Nasional Government.

Truly, the Orang Asli’s are the guardians of our country’s ecological system.

This reality needs to be acknowledged by each and every Malaysian, regardless of your position or status in life.

The dire consequences of the Barisan Nasional Government’s apathy towards our needs to preserve and protect our natural river water catchment areas is just too disastrous to be ignored by every Malaysian!

Even the Kedah State Government which just came under the PAS political party’s rule had threatened to clear large tracts of the forests in the name of development recently and it’s Menteri Besar Ustaz Azizan was defiant in wanting to go ahead with his plans to lumber the forests!

Talk about greedy insensitive morons who are so prone to destroying Almighty Allah’s gift and trust to us ; all in the pretext of implementing development projects!!!

Do we really need to clear our forests to be developed?

Is there any idiot in authority who even gives a damn about the future of this country’s water resources?

Why the hell are the Malay Sultans remaining deaf, dumb and blind to this wanton destruction of our country’s natural heritages and our lifeline of fresh, drinkable water supplies?

I am truly frustrated beyond words to think of how these so called Masters of this Land are so insensitive and unfeeling towards the need to protect and preserve our country’s water resources and our pristine forest reserves?

I came across this news report about a Canadian company that supplies fresh, natural water drinkable from its source.

The magic of water

There’s about 1.4 million cubic kilometres of water on the earth. The amount has stayed the same for two billion years.

There’s water on the earth’s surface, but also in the ground and in the air.

With water everywhere, why are we always worried about having enough drinking water?

People can only drink fresh water and some of it is trapped in ice caps, oceans and glaciers, leaving just 1% of the world’s water available for us to use.

How waters are purified?

Natural spring water bottled right at the source needs no purification to be safe and healthy to drink.

However, spring water that has sat in tanks or been transported before bottling is exposed to bacteria and must be purified. As well, waters taken from municipal water supplies, lakes or rivers also need to be processed to be safe enough to drink.

Here’s what your water might have been through:

Distillation — Steam from boiling water is recondensed and bottled. Boiling kills all microbes, making it very safe, but it also gets rid of water’s natural minerals, which gives it a flat taste and reduces its health value.

Deionization — Also known as demineralization, uses ion exchange resins to bind to and filter out the minerals in water. The results of this artificial process are similar to distilled water.

Micron Filtration — Water is filtered through microscopically tiny holes to get rid of contaminants and microbes.

Ozonation — By adding artificially created ozone gas to it, water is disinfected, which kills most microbes. However, this process has been linked to the formation of bromate in water, which has health concerns.

Reverse Osmosis — Under pressure, water is forced through a membrane, which filters out microbes, chemicals and also all the minerals.

Ultraviolet Light — Water is passed through UV light, which does not affect the physical or chemical make-up of the water but kills most contaminants.

Chlorination — The disinfectant chlorine is added to many municipal water supplies and some processed bottled waters as well, particularly those that have gone through reverse osmosis. Chlorine kills pathogens effectively, but there are health concerns with byproducts of the process called trihalomethanes (THMs)

Trihalomethanes (THMs) are chemical compounds in which three of the four hydrogen atoms of methane (CH4) are replaced by halogen atoms. Many trihalomethanes find uses in industry as solvents or refrigerants. THMs are also environmental pollutants, and many are considered carcinogenic. Trihalomethanes with all the same halogen atoms are called haloforms.

Did you get that?

Carcinogenic! Short for cancer!!!

Yup! All the wanton destruction of our riverine sources by the timber industry, the clearing of the forests in the name of development by the companies appointed by and having connection to the government officers who all have vested interests in making billions and millions from the proceeds of the chopping down of precious hardwoods from our forests result in polluted rivers that are turned into sewers.

Yet, it is from these muddy rivers that the water supply companies draw in their supply of raw polluted water and use all kinds of chemicals to ‘treat’ the water before piping it to our homes!

Do you even wonder why I am so worked up about this report that the Selangor State Government is working hand in hand with the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications in destroying 4000 over hectares in the Kelau Dam Project and in the process victimise the Orang Asli communities there, just to make more money for their already bloated wallets?

I beseech Almighty Allah to save our forests from these BN devils and alos the ones in the Selangor State Government who are in cahoots with these destroyers of Malaysia’s forest reserves and riverine sources!

Curse be upon them who out of their greed are willing to destroy this country’s natural heritage all in the name of the ringgit!

I call upon all caring Malaysians to support the Orang Asli’s and help reserve their ancestral lands from being encroached upon by the timber companies, dam building damned companies and the greedy ruthless ones in power in both the BN and the PR governments.

I invite you to watch these videos once again to digest the depth and seriousness of this matter that threatens not only the future of the Orang Asli’s affected by the proposed destructive project but also our lives, whether we realize it or not?

Hutan Lemas; Hidup Melarat.

Drowned Forests ; Damned Lives

Do your part!

Contact the Centre for Orang Asli Concerns and give them your support. Our natural forests heritage are at stake here and together with it our supply of fresh natural waters from the remaining sources of pristine rivers and water catchment areas.

Don’t wait till it’s too bloody late!
