Assalamualaikum dear Malaysians,
I was at the Park Corner Restaurant besides the Menara PGRM this morning after having my breakfast when came across a figure who struck to me as someone familiar.
When I went over to look at his face, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was Dr.Mohd Nasir Hashim, the Parti Sosialis Malaysia Chairman himself!
I greeted him with the salam and introduced myself. We exchanged our name cards and got to know each other better.
Dr.Mohd Nasir had me intrigued all these while reading about his exploits in defending the grassroot Malaysians especially the long suffering Indians caught in the poverty quicksands present in the rubber and oil palm estates of this country.
Dr.Mohd Nasir Hashim has been struggling to get the Parti Sosialis Malaysia registered as a national political party for so long but the Registrar of societies has always rejected his application on the grounds that the PSM is a threat to national security and other reasons.
PSM has an ongoing case brewing in the courts for quite some time. As usual, the ROS will not be giving PSM what they are asking for on a silver platter.
Their struggles look like it will be a protracted affair! Good luck to you sir, Dr.Nasir.
As a Muslim Caller to Islam, I have been thinking of going to see him one of these days to satisfy my curiosity about his being a Socialist when he is known to be a Muslim as well?
So, this morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see the man himself standing before me. We sat at a table and spoke about things over coffee.
I told him of my wish to interview him for you my readers.
He consented and agreed to the interview. He was there at the area because his niece was having a fever and had to go to the clinic at Menara PGRM.
His niece is a teacher so I promptly wished her ‘Selamat Hari Guru’ @ ‘Happy Teachers Day’ and wished her well.
After his niece went up to the clinic, I suggested to Dr.Nasir that we move out of the noisy restaurant and head on over to the adjacent Taman Pudu Ulu public park to video the interview.
So, we walked over to the park and settled ourselves at one of the gazebos. I was not carrying my recently purchased tripod so the camera had to be handheld.
This is a full interview so brace yourselves to spend more than 45 minutes to watch it in one go.
Enjoy!
