My missus alerted me to a report by Mr.Vernon Kedit Jolly, the manager of Malaysian songstress Ning Baizura in his blog Mr.Manager where they spotted Penang’s Chief Minister YAB Saudara Lim Guan Eng, flying on economy class from KL to Penang!
The way YAB Lim Guan Eng puts to practice what he has been preaching about not indulging in excesses that usually were the norm of Barisan Nasional leaders really makes me a firm believer that I did no wrong in supporting the Pakatan Rakyat in the recently concluded 12th Malaysian General Elections on March the 8th, 2008.
Syabas YAB Lim Guan Eng!
I read somewhere before that you are emulating the way Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz ruled and also along the lines of how the Kelantan Menteri Besar Tuan Guru Datuk Hj Nik Abdul Aziz bin Nik Mat remained humble and avoided splurging unnecessarily using the taxpayers money for his meager needs.
May the Almighty bestow upon you His Wisdom and Blessings so that you will prove to be the best Chief Minister that the State of Penang has ever had since Independence!
Ameen.
I am grateful that my home island @ Penang the Pearl of the Orient has you as our Chief Minister!
May Penang grow in all ways and get back to being the shining gem of the nation.
Mr.Vernon @ Mr.Manager. Thanks for sharing this refreshing information with the Blogosphere!

A CM for all Malaysians.
I have no doubt about his leadership by example.
His sincerity shows and I think it is second nature to him, so there is no effort at all.
Others would do some wall painting, use the changkul or collect some rubbish, for the cameras.
Syabas Pakatan !! I voted for Pakatan the last time and I will vote for you guys again the next time around
Bro,
It is a sign of the times especially in the kind of extravagant culture exhibited by Bolehland’s so called leaders that we are so taken aback by such deviant behavior by the Penang CM.
In some infidel western countries, it is the norm for many top CEO’s to practice what we claim to be a good Muslim virtue, that of frugality – as practiced by the Caliphs you so rightly mentioned.
There are so many other similar virtuous behavior exhibited by the Westerners, that I see here living in the land of the Great Satan, but that is another story.
A shining example of frugality is the boss and founder of IKEA a company so well known locally and all over the world.
Ingvar Kamprad ranked 4th richest in the world, drives a 15-year-old car and always flies economy class partly to inspire his 90,000 employees worldwide to see the virtue of frugality.
“People say I am cheap and I don’t mind if they do. But I am very proud to follow the rules of our company,” he said.
Asked to confirm he drove an old Volvo, he said: “She is nearly new, just 15 years old, or something like that.”
But I believe that our so called Asian values are what drives us to show off our wealth and position. Anybody driving a 15 year old Volvo or practicing such frugality would be labeled a cheapskate: face kena jaga, never mind whether it can be afforded. Drive up in a kancil at a 3 star hotel and you would be chased to timbucktoo. Enter a shop or bank dressed casually and the salespersons/staff will sniff down at you.
Sometimes, I think we are our own worst enemies.
Take care.
Brother Zainol, I have seen Guan Eng at public food court during lunch hour taking his lunch. I have never seen ex CM Koh Tsu Koon at public food court during his tenure, but for Guan Eng, it is normal for him to go to simple food court to take his lunch.
Sometimes I feel so touched and so small compare to him.
way to go bro
My dear Brothers,
I feel honored to have you all come and share your feelings about the blessing that Allah has given us in the person of Yang Amat Berhormat lagi Di-Hormati serta di Hargai, Saudara Lim Guan Eng.
He is worthy of our continued support and we must put aside our differences in race and religion in showing our sincere appreciation to a true public servant.
I read that the late PAS President Allahyarham Tuan Guru Dato Hj Fadhil Noor used to visit YAB Lim Guan Eng when Guan Eng was imprisoned for defending a Malay girl’s honor and accused of passing out inciting pamphlets against former Malaccan Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Tamby Chik accused of raping the poor girl.
Ustaz Fadhil has given many Islamic books to Guan Eng to read while being in prison and that Guan Eng had read about the way illustrious Caliphs of the past had ruled with total humility over their subjects back then.
I also read that Saudara Lim Guan Eng is very impressed by the much respected Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz and that he has put the Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz’s example to practice after now becoming the Chief Minister of the State of Penang and Seberang Perai.
To me, that is something that transcends the borders of race and faith which every Malaysian no matter who he or she is must respect and hold high in our hearts!
I swear that if Lim Guan Eng is sincere and keeps to the way of the Khalifah Umar Abdul Aziz and the example of all good leaders of the world, regardless of their background, this blogger will stand firm with him till the last breath that I draw here on Earth.
Insya Allah.
Thank you for the link and credit mention, saudara Mahaguru.
Aiyo! Howlah not to love this guy! Even his detractors will be cursing!
Meanwhile the BN ministers will be travelling incognito (in first class, of course) from today onwards. Don’t be surprised if they wear wigs or cross-dress!
Hahaha!
Peace Bro.
Brother Vernon @ Mr.Manager.
My missus who is a Computer Scientist has been one of your avid readers since you started blogging to ease her mind from the mental strain due to her workload.
She alerted me about this worthy news hence I felt that Malaysians deserve to learn about Guan Eng’s true persona.
So, the gratitude is mutual and I wish both you and Ning all the best in your careers.
I like listening to Ning too and am relieved that she’s finally married to what I see as a good man.
His sincerity shines through and I wish the couple all the best in their marriage.
Take care Vernon and do share with us news and views like these whenever you come across them.
May Allah the Almighty bless and guide us all.
Ameen.
Brother Murali @ gangeticus,
Hahahaha…that would surely be worth blogging about!
Dear Malaysians, keep a digital camera at hand and snap us some pictures of any Malaysian leader who does exactly what Brother Murali is hinting at?
I’d publish any such photos here gladly.
Authentic photos only thank you.
No Tian Chua photoshop effects please!
😛
Guan Eng marches to a different drummer, which disorientates and confuses many ordinary politicians. Hope he would not allow the negativeness of such politicians to demotivate and side-track him.
Let Penang lead. Penangites must defend their state. Cooperate and do whatever is necessary under the leadership of YAB Lim. By the way, the Governor of the state of massachussetts takes a bus or train to work. Why can’t PR Menteris Besar do the same. Once in a while, PR MPs should ride bycyles to Parliament. Message: Saves gas, care for the environment, etc. Do that and I bet you’ll get onto CNN and Al-Jazeera in not time. Just don’t tell the silly/stupid BN/UMNO reps about this.
He is my CM. I am so proud of him.
All of you must appreciate where YAB Lim Guan Eng had experience in life. As a child his father (YB Lim Kit Siang) was arrested several times under the ISA. He himself was a victim of the draconian ISA.
He was also imprisoned when he stood up for a Malay girl who alleged that she was statury raped by a VIP UMNO ex-CM. He never regreted his action and said he would go to prison again to fight for justice.
This is what Malaysians need. A true leader who fights for justice and lead by example. I hope all Malaysians can see beyond race and religion and choose a leader based solely on their good leadership and moral qualities. What is the point of having a muslim/malay leader who is munafik and corrupt and sleeps on the job.
Najib ask us to ubah gaya hidup in face of rising prices but I don’t see him flying economy class. Fikir-fikirkanlah !
With people like Lim Guan Eng helming the way, looks lke Malaysia still has a fighting chance to creep out of the hole that had been dug by BN.
Leaders like Lim Guan Eng and Tok Guru Nik Azmi are in a class of their own when it comes to walking the talk.
Syabas to them.
cheers…….
To the people of Penang
You have been blessed having such a good leader to lead Penang.
Do not ask what his party can do for you in the next five years but rather what you can do for your state.(Singapore has nothing when they started) Be proud and strong.
New Zealand Observer
May Allah open saudara Lim Guan Eng’s heart that he may become a good muslim one day practice justice that brings awe to muslims and non-muslims alike.
Ameen. Please vote at farihinfong.blogspot.com
