Trip to Kuantan to attend a Friend’s Funeral

‘Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un’. From Allah we came ; to Allah we return.

This is the phrase that we Muslims recite when we hear the passing away of any of our families, friends and fellow Muslims.

My friend, Allahyarham Tuan Haji Mohd Yusof returned to Allah SWT’s presence early Friday morning at 0415am.

He passed away at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang after being stricken with a ‘mysterious’ illness and was bedridden for over 3 years. May Allah SWT bless his soul, forgive him his sins and give him due reward for the good deeds he had done in his lifetime. Ameen. He was a humble soul.

The death certificate states the cause of death to be ‘anaemia causing ischmia of the heart’. I received the call from my wife’s nephew at 0425am and we made a decision to go attend his funeral.

We took the East Coast Highway and managed to arrive just as he was being buried at the Setali Muslim Cemetery in Kuantan. As it was a Friday, the family decided to have him buried before the Jumaat Prayers.

This is his grave. The final resting place for Muslims . Nothing fancy, nothing grand.

For all our earthly splendour and wealth, the cold dark damp earth will be our final end. Insya Allah.
