Principles of Da’wah Al Islamiah Part One

Bismillahirrahmannirrahim.
In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi ta’ala wabarakatuh.

Pending the start up of the proposed Islamic Centre of Masjid Jamek Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, I wish to share with you some information about this noble efforts of improving oneself and sharing with others in the Islamic propagation work that is known as Da’wah Al Islamiah.

This article is meant for those 15 Muslimins and Mukminats who have emailed me, volunteering their services for the Islamic Centre which is under process of discussions with the Mosque Administration and the relevant authorities.

You who have volunteered to contribute your time and energy in running this centre are among those who are going to carry on the most important work in your lifes ; that is to carry on the Efforts of the Blessed Messenger Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam. May the Taufeek and Hidayah of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala be upon us all! Ameen Ya Rabbal Alameen.

To be an efficient Da’ee or Da’eeyah, one must possess four basic criteria’s. These are :

  1. Sincerity towards doing this effort for Allah SWT
  2. Clear Intention as to why you are involved in Da’wah
  3. Ability to withstand tensions that will sure come to you in line of this work
  4. Good manners as a benchmark of being a Caller to Islam.

1. Sincerity

Each person who is committed to doing their part for the Islamic Da’wah Services must be sincere towards this noble efforts. We seek nothing but the Redha of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and the success of Islam to be understood by our fellow mankind as to what it really is and to dispel the misinformation about our Deen ul Haqq!

In Surah Al-An’am Chapter 6 Verse 162, Allah SWT commands :

Say (O Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam) ” Verily, my Salat (prayers), my Sacrifice, my Living and my Dying are for Allah, the Lord of the ‘Alameen (mankind, djinn, and all that exists).

By being sincere and joining other Mukmins and Mukminats in doing this noble effort, the Da’ee and Da’eeyah will be blessed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to be constantly in remembrance of Rabbul Jaleel and reaffirm our Knowledge of Islam , Ad Deen ul Haqq , everytime we share any of the information regarding Islam and in return attain the peace of mind and sakinah that comes with the knowledge that we are sharing with others the Truth of Islam, Insya Allah.

All of our actions must be acts of worship towards Allah Ar Rahman Ar Raheem. Sincerity ensures that our deeds are carried out solely for the sake of Allah SWT and not expecting any worldly returns. Our heart must be sincere in coming in to do this noble work that is a continuation of the Efforts of the Prophets of Allahu Ta’ala.

If we were to ever go astray and start thinking that we are better than others and allow pride to seep in and corrupt our ikhlas fisabilillahi ta’ala, we must immediately repent and seek Allah’s Forgiveness and try our best not to be anything but sincere and humble in our hearts.

It is human nature to like being praised. Those who like being cursed are either weird in the truest sense of the word or plain psycho! It’s abnormal ! May Allah SWT save us from such folks! Ameen.

Doesn’t mean that I ask that we be praised, be appreciated all the time! No way! Just asking that we be left to do what we want to without any hindrance for we do not go disturb anyone out there. We just do what we are asked to by our Lord Almighty! That’s all!

Then there are the faultfinders. Yes, there are more faultfinders on Earth than there are those who appreciate us for whatever good we do. We see these kind each day online and offline! They think they know best and forget to realise that they aren’t perfect in the first place, themselves!

I have come to meet so many of these Critics par Excellence in my life that I can easily sense them out and stay away from them for there’s nothing good coming out from them except to complain, complain and complain till the sun arises from the West, Insya Allah!

A reminder now and then to us as to our going wrong’s would be beneficial but to get it daily is just gonna drive us to an early grave, if we let them harangue us !

People who have yet to know us in depth almost always try and label us as such. They will accuse us of being ‘narcissistic’, ‘syok sendiri’ , ‘angkat bakul’, ‘naik lif’, and so on! Does that do us any good in the long run? Best, stay clear of such kind for the sake of our Peace of mind!

We who at first are so excited about helping others and ourselves in improving our knowledge and being in good spirits with the faith in Allah SWT and to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW will soon get depressed, disillusioned and lose our spirit as a result of listening to all these ‘bad news’ folks!

Yup! No two ways about it! If you want to succeed in life and retain that aspect of being sincere towards this Da’wah effort, please…..please do not keep company with the likes of those who are blinkered in their views and who harbour bad vibes in their miserable souls! No good comes from associating with these kind.

Birds of a feather flock together, so the saying goes. Go mix with the good folks who fear Allah SWT and love the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW!

Remember his hadith about being friends with the perfume seller and staying away from the blacksmith! I am sure you know the meanings of the hadith!

I will share more about the principles of being a good Da’ee and Da’eeyah later. Got an important appointment with a friend coming from Penang who is a jeweller. Who knows? Maybe Allah SWT wants to give me some Razq from doing business with him. Please do’a for me! Insya Allah!

I pray that this Juma’at will see us being blessed by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and our sins be forgiven and baraqah given to us in return! Ameen Ya Rabbul Alameen.

Take care and have a nice day. Wassalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!
