The Shahadah in Islam and in the Christian Bible etc.

In the Al-Qur’an al Karim, we can see the Shahadah in the Chapter 112 : 1 Surah Al Ikhlas:

“Qul hu wallah hu ahad!” meaning ‘ Say! He is Allah, The One!’

The Bible says : ” The Lord, Our God is One Lord“. (Deuteronomy Chapter 6 Verse 4)

” And Jesus answered, the first of all Commandments is :

‘Hear O Israel, the Lord, our God is One Lord!”
(Mark Chapter 12 Verse 29)

Those are proofs of how Christians and Muslims are enjoined in the matter of Faith to ONE GOD!

I have been sharing this fact with all the Christians whom I meet in the mosque and they always are surprised to learn about this fact that has not been explained to them by their priests and pastors and also by the Muslims whom they have met before.

Most of them tell me that they always have felt that there must be something that has been held back from them by either parties. And when they learn about it from me, they now know!

Let’s take a look at some other aspects that many do not realise about the connections between Christianity and Islam.

The Prayer (Salat) and The Ablution :

In the Bible :

” And Moses and Aaron and his sons washes their hands and their feet thereat ” (Exodus 40:31)

“Then Paul took the men, and the next day, purifying himself with them, entered into the temple.” (Acts 21:26)

In the Qur’an :

” O ye who believe! When you prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows. Rub your heads (with water) and wash your feet to the ankles.” (Al Maidah : 6)

In the Bible :

Prophet Abraham @ Nabi Ibrahim Alaihis Salam
” And Abraham fell on his face…” ( Genesis Chapter 17 : Verse 3)

Prophets Moses and Aaron (Nabi Musa and Nabi Harun AS)
” And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying ” Separate yourselves from among this congregation that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell upon their faces and said, ” O God….” (Number 16: Verse 20-22)

Prophet Jesus Christ the Messiah (Nabi Eesa ibni Maryam Al Masih)
” And he went little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying ” O my Father….”
(Matthew Chapter 26 Verse 39)

” And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground and prayed….( Mark Chapter 14 : 35)

From all the above instances, rational, clear thinking Christians and Muslims can see that the Prophets all prayed in the exact same manner that we see being practiced in Islam.

All of Allah’s Prophets and Messengers prayed in the same exact manner that is there in the Bible and in the Qur’an, the Final Testament of God Almighty, the Glorious Lord and Master of us all, Allah, the Eternal God, the Absolute!

When Abraham, Joshua, Moses, Aaron, Jesus all performed their prayers to Allah, the Almighty God Most Supreme, Most High exactly in the manner as we Muslims pray as taught to us by the Greatest and Final Messenger of God, the Holy Messenger Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam, why is it that those who claim to be the followers of Jesus Christ, peace be upon him have been waylaid and left to deviate from the manner of prayer that Al Masih taught his disciples?

Christians, Jews and Muslims are all heirs to the faith of Tawheed , the monotheistic creed that glorifies True God Almighty, Allah the Eternal, the Most Absolute!

The problem is that the Jews and the Christians have been misled by those who are supposed to carry on the traditions, the actual teachings of all the Abrahamaic Prophets and descendants of the Patriarch, the Khalilullah, the Holy Prophet Abraham Alaihi Salam.

We the Muslims have also been betrayed by so many of those who were supposed to hold fast to the rope of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and to the true teachings of Islam, brought to us by Allah’s Final and Greatest Messenger, the Unlettered Prophet, Muhammad al Mustafa, the Chosen One!

Today, we find so many deviated groups and schools of thought in the form of so many madhabs and Jama’ahs. Today, we find so many Tariqats, schools of this, schools of that, people who claim to be the true heirs of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassallam but who in reality are innovators and masters of deceit.

Yes, the Muslims themselves are plagued with being duped into glorifying so many Masters, so many Sheikhs of this and that, that the reality is that we too are as divided and as deviated as the Christians and the Jews!

Remember the Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam ?

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said:

• The Jews split into 71 groups; one will enter Paradise and 70 will enter Hell.
  
• The Christians split into 72 groups; 71 will enter Hell and one will enter Paradise.
  
• By Him in Whose Power is the life of Muhammad, without doubt, my Ummah will be divided into 73 groups. Only one will enter Paradise and 72 will enter Hell.
• When asked which group will be on the right path, the Holy Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) replied: The main (al-Jama’ah) body of the Muslims.
  

Related by (Ibni Majah in the Kitab al-Fitan)

Christians today do not follow the example shown by the Prophet Moses Alaihis Salam. Remember the incident of Moses (peace be upon him) getting the Taurat @ Torah from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala on Mount Sinai in the sacred valley of Tuwa?

In the Bible it says :
” God called unto him out of the midst of the bush and said ” Moses! Moses!” and he said , ” Here I am!” and He (Almighty God) said,” Draw not nigh hither!( Do not come closer! ) ; put off thy shoes from thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground!”(Exodus 3:5)

“Then said the Lord to him (Moses) ” Put off thy shoes from thy feet, for the place where thou standest is holy ground!” ( Acts 7:33)

Do you see Christians taking off their shoes when in the Church? Who do you see doing so religiously? Isn’t it the Muslims? I know that Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists do the same but I am writing about Christians and Muslims here.

We can also take a look at the Commandment of God to the ‘Believing Women’ to cover themselves also in the Bible as well as in the Qur’an.

In the Bible :
” But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head!” ( I Corinthians 11:5)

You all have read the Surah An Noor Chapter 24 Verse 31 in the Holy Qur’an where God commands the ‘Believing Women’ to lower their eyes from looking at men (whose area of modesty are uncovered-except of the man halal to her) and to lower her head covering over her bosom…etc.

These are areas which both Christians and Muslims need to learn, know about and share with others so that they too will know and not build up unnecessary animosity and hatred against each other!

Life is oh so short for us to waste it on fighting each other on baseless and useless giving in to our own inflated egos!
