Senator Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee of UMNO is fuming mad at the insensivity of the New Straits Times in publishing a full page Tiger Beer ad next to the page with the Prime Minister’s photo !
I can understand the outrage he feels ! No matter that I am no fan of the PM, to see him being insulted like this makes me just shake my head at the insensitivity of the NST!
They got off scot free after republishing those insulting cartoons of the Prophet SAW! Now they are rubbing it in the PM’s nose! (Pun intended)!
Is the NST so bloody high and mighty that they can screw the PM’s image with a fullpage Beer Ad when he represents the OIC as it’s current Chairman?
Are we gonna see UMNO do anything to protest this ‘kurang ajar’ insensitivity being perpetrated by the NST or are the NST Editors ‘the Untouchables’?
Agenda Daily is fuming mad at the NST and seems like Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee is baying for blood!
I support him in seeking an explanation from the Editors of the New Straits Times for being so bloody stupid in running a beer ad next to the page featuring the Prime Minister!
Has the NST come to such a desperate situation where they need to have beer ads to supplement their income?
Isn’t it gross enough that cinemagoers have to suffer watching the beer ads in this ‘Islamic Nation’ of Malaysia which are blasted on to the screen before we get to see any movies?
Go kick ass Datuk ! Time to teach those idiots a lesson!

eh since when alcohol ads can appear in newspaper ledi ar ?
here is wat malaysian mp’s are good for, fightin the moral ground….
wtf, help the poor or make more business opportunity or somethin…..stupidest things malaysians voice out for….
beer companies sign really lucrative deals with advertisers, it’s hard for many to say no. they do pay big money to get on page 3 of the papers… i guess it’s just a coincidence?
Yes Wingz, I was thinking the same. Thought that the newspapers were purged of publishing such ads. How come NST gets to do so?
Kay, don’t you know that the best way to be in the PM’s ‘good books’ is to portray that so n so is looking out for Mr.Jellybelly’s image?
Chloe, seems that Islam Hadhari is just lip service from the BN Government. People are willing to sell out anything and everything for money nowadays.
Just look at the way, women willingly sell themselves charged by the hour as exposed on TV3 and on the internet.
Money makes the people lose their honor and sense of value as proven by NST’s shameless advocation of drinking beer and alcohol.
Have you heard of anyone becoming healthier, wiser and better after being drunk?
Anyone who gets drunk loses all sense of shame, self honor and they degenerate from all areas of their person.
Drunkards get sick and their internal organs deteriorate from top to toe. I read that their brain cells start dying, and they lose coherentness and their brainpower starts weakening.
The liver goes bad and not to mention physical health. It’s all systems downhill and it’s a fact that no one can deny.
That’s why alcohol is forbidden in Islam . The harsh reality is that here in Malaysia and also all over the world, there are Muslims who drink and don’t give a hoot about their faith ; what more people of other faiths?
Malays who claim to be Muslims booze themselves stupid in places like Bangsar, Jalan P.Ramlee, Sri Hartamas and other sinspots here in KL.
Having a major newspaper like NST openly advertise Beer ads like what they have done like this speaks badly of their reputation.
Actually I am against any alcohol or cigarette advertising at all in any public media. However, you seem to be suggesting that by placing the ad opposite the picture of the PM NST is implying a connection between them.
But if that were the case placing the PM’s photo opposite any advertisement would imply the same: would you also object to seeing the PM opposite a slimming advertisment, or a computer advertisement, for example?
Don’t you think most people would just ignore the ad and concentrate on the article – I know that I ignore most advertisements. I reckon that one should not be overly sensitive about these things, there are more important things in life.
By the way, do you know that only people with a Blogger account can leave comments on your blog?
Well jul, I am against the NST’s blatant disregard about placing such beer ads in the newspaper whatmore when it doesn’t give a damn about such placement next to the PM’s image.
I am no fan of the fellow but as a Muslim just feel that the NST are trying to be funny by doing all these irresponsible acts.
They got away with their cartoon crap, now beer ads next to the OIC Chairman’s face on the opposite page.
Maybe your being a non muslim makes you not feel the outrage the Senator Datuk Syed Ali Alhabshee felt as well as most of those of us who are bloody sensitive about it.
So , I can sort of understand why it so bewilders you.
It takes one to understand such things from the inside of the faith.
I don’t have any problems with any ads which are alright with my faith.
I wouldn’t even say anything if you had an ad of the Buddha next to the PM or any other faith because he’s also the head of every Malaysian but you seem not to understand the exact point my post is directed at.
Please understand that we object to the ad being placed in such a manner disrespecting Malaysia’s leader who is a fellow Muslim.
That’s all about it. I didn’t know that about the Blogger comment thingy.
Maybe you have no problem with your website as you own it.
Blogger is hosting us so I figure they have their system set in such a way that only those with a Blogger account can leave comments.
Can’t do much about that,can I?
