Those of us who live in Malaysia surely are well aware that in this land of ours, hardly a day goes by without us being assailed by the endless Concerts and Award Presentations that take place without stop by all the various broadcasting tv stations, radio stations, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Culture and even by the National Newspaper Groups!
Tonight , the PM and his entourage are at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre attending another exclusive red carpet occasion @ ‘Malam Anugerah Seri Angkasa’ .
This is an example of how the Government supports its Ministry of Hedonism in keeping the easily swayed and entertained masses distracted from looking at the serious problems plaguing the nation.
Malaysia our beloved land is either blessed or cursed to have such continuous concerts that surely cost lots of money to finance.
We are talking about live national tv coverage, costs of rental of the convention centre, costs incurred in all the glitterati, costs of the awards, prizes, costumes, wardrobe, props, advertising, sound equipment, lightings, fees, charges for all kinds of presenters, performers, musicians, etc!
Just try to figure out how much money these types of concerts and awards costs?
On the other hand, the same tv stations try to outdo each other in highlighting the plight of the dirt poor Malaysians living in squalid conditions, in the innermost villages of the Malaysian Peninsular or the jungles of Sabah and Sarawak!
All the money being splurged on these unnecessary concerts and awards so frequently would be better utilised to help those poor destitutes and vagrants!
Don’t you think so?

I do not look upon all those concerts and awards as a waste of money. They generates money, for the various businesses, artists, composers, musicians, production houses, general workers, security companies, suppliers of equipments, ( I can list perhaps 100 other beneficieries). None of these people or entities will get any revenues if there are no concerts or award nights and if there are too few, no entities or people can sustain thier existence by getting involve in the activity. I think you only see what the concerts and award nights are but you dont see anything else.
Too little or too many, how do you measure that? Further more, if I am not mistaken, it is only in the first three months that we see so many award nights but after that nothing!
The concerts, ahhh, if only you know what kind of revenues that these concerts generate, not only for organisations but the massa too. The makcik goreng pisang, the air tebu people, not counting the artists/musicians who needs these concerts to survive and to continue doing it as a career.
You assumed that all these concerts and award nights as a waste of money, well you assume wrong!THEY MAKE MONEY! Some of these concerts/award nights proceeds goes to helping the needy, not that I am too fond of people who decides getting charity is better than doing. charity!
Hehehehe!
I was waiting for the brickbats especially from those in the ‘Entertainment Industry’!
Well, it is true as you point it out ..that there are people who make money.
All those people involved in the concerts and award nights and even the ‘remora fish’ types who gets scraps from the bits that fall their way from the sharks feeding frenzy!
My main contention is that this nation is too bloody wasteful in its resources especially those running the Ministry of Hedonism.
Look at the proposed ‘Beautiful Bridge to Nowhere’ being proposed and now going to be built by Malaysia to replace the Causeway!
Singapore being the smart intelligent island republic under the best Asian government are objecting to such a blatant egoistic trip by those running this Malaysian government.
This is the kind of wastage and unnecessary spending that I am talking about!
The Malaysian government would be better off spending and providing scholarships to send our bright young students from ALL races and faiths to the higher institutions of educations.
As it is , the Malays are being brainwashed into thinking that higher education is not that important nowadays.
As long as their sons and daughters can dance and sing well, their future would be bright!
Just look at the current trend for the Malays to congregate in hundreds of thousands and going ga ga over ‘Akademi Fantasia’, ‘Malaysian Idol’, ‘Audition’, ‘Mentor’,’Sureheboh’, etc!
Need I say more?
As for those who have the ‘charity’ mentality , I agree with you that that’s a very useless thing to do.
People should be initiated to stand on their own but in hopeless cases, it falls on the rulers to take care of those who need welfare but welfare should only be given as a last resort!
In poor countries such as Bangladesh, they have been helping those in the poverty levels to start small businesses with small loans through the ‘Grameen Bank’.
In Malaysia, a similar thing was launched before but that hs fizzled out now due to mismanagement!
The only thing Malaysia seems to be excellent at is these concerts and awards thingy.
Maybe , it’s the fate of the Malays to be the ‘entertainers’ of Asia!
Que sera sera!
Anyway, thanks for commenting.
My contention was that all these concerts/award nights are not money wasting activities as you pointed them to be.
As for your insuniation that the malays are being brainswashed into thinking that education is not important anymore, such insuniation comes from malays who are not educated/well informed in the first place.
As for AF, MI, before af/mi, most of them ,they were just nobody with no money, a burden to society and thier parents. After AF/MI, they pay taxes, generate all kind of business for many, they are able to help thier parents and basically, they have managed to improve themselves. Hopefully they save enough when they are still in the industry, so that they can give something back to thier parents, society, and most importantly provide everything to thier children so that thier children can be better persons in term of education, oppurtunities etcetc.
Mawi`s and Diana`s children would probably stayed in a cramp flat if not a setinggan house, go without good food on many days, have a pair of school uniform only, walk to school etc etc if mawi hadnt entered AF.
You seem pretty riled up over MY OPINION and must be a diehard Mawi fan!
You are either plain stupid to miss my point here or just cant see the wood for the trees!
As a member of the most wayward group as far as personal developments are concerned, I don’t want to deny you your wish to be among the masses of ignorant timewasters who are all so bloody excited about the latest singing sensations, etc!
Enjoy all you want and be as you choose to be!
It’s confirmed that with the likes of you who are so deep into hedonism, the Malays will forever be the laughing stock of this part of Asia if not the world!
Please keep your namecalling to yourself. This posting is directed to the government as a feedback from me, a concerned citizen who cares for the Malays and want to see them improve in other more vible areas such as education, business prowess, research and development in science and technology and not be reduced to a generation of dancers and singers who most probably will face the Wrath of Allah SWT in the hereafter.
It is up to Allah SWT to give Taufeek and Hidayah to the Malays but Allah SWT tells us : I WILL NOT CHANGE THE FATE OF MAN UNLESS HE CHANGES IT HIMSELF!’
If you want to support Mawi and his likes, by all means , go ahead; no one’s stopping you!
This post of mine is a voicing out to the powers that be; unless you happen to be the bloody Minister of Information himself whom I’m lambasting, I see no reason for you to be so bloody worked up?
Go see whether Mawi needs a tissue or what..or have you missed the job interview to be his bloody PA?
